Prototype Release
ive just released this prototype, ive put loads of polish into it and simply couldnt bring myself to make more than 1 level, i feel that it was best to keep this demo at a minimum in terms of gameplay length to allow for the more refined expiriences that i believe will allow for speedrunning
it amazes me how larger games are made so quickly by standalone indie developers, this prototype took roughly a month just to add all the polish required for it, packing in small details like the range of vaulting increasing based off how fast you are moving or making move speed based around DeltaTime so that faster FPS hardware wont make the player move faster, even things like normalizing movement vectors to ensure you cant move faster when holding two movement buttons (a and w, s and d, ect.) i often dont find in some of the games ive played, im shocked that most developers will take speed and quantity over quality
games take quality and thats what i wish to give, id much rather have 1 level that feels good than 7 levels that feel rushed, i wish unity allowed for more surface level visual programming than using their "shader graph" or whatever the hell its called, i hate that unity prioritizes quirky new inventive solutions over just code, like mechanim bieng a state machine instead of an updated version of the legacy animation system that actually functioned how it was supposed to and didnt water itself down with quirky features, the fact that they wasted time making an entire UI for a state machine nobody even asked for will forever piss me off, i considered coding my own engine and i still would if it werent for the lack of knowledge on how to work with the windows OS, its hard to make a game when you cant even make a tab to display the visual aspects in, if i wanna do that in C# id go with winforms but id much rather work in C++ for its simple legacy and lack of messy overhaul that i so dearly love to despise, however its best not to complain, after all a bad workman blames his tools, cant help but do just that, though, for the simple understanding of this software isnt a given as i do believe it should be, if a good workman is not to blame his instruments than functioning, effective instruments should be at his disposal, to act as though instruments to have flaws is of commonality is to act as though the workman is not to have status and in this day and age that simply cant be accepted by the commonfolk.
